This stunning 3,833 sq ft Muskoka island cottage offers a contemporary spin on classic Muskoka cottaging. The cottage is accompanied by a two-storey boathouse that offers an additional 628 sq ft of living space. The cottage is beautifully situated up from the water offering spectacular views while also providing privacy from passers-by on the lake. A true custom project. It was a pleasure to work as creative partners with the owners and their talented builder.
The boathouse has three slips: two enclosed with all glass garage doors, and the third an open, but covered boat port. The boathouse is surrounded by ample dock space for swimming and lounging and offers beautiful long views of the lake. Head up the boathouse stairs into the boathouse living space which contains two-bedrooms, a washroom, and a living area. All-natural stained tongue and groove ceilings and white ship...
lapped walls provide a contemporary yet nautical feel to the interior. Sun streams through the glass door and flanking windows to fill the space with light and draw you out to the roof top deck for the best view of the lake. Any guest would be thrilled with these luxurious accommodations.
Follow the meandering stone pathway from the boathouse to the cottage. Enter through the main entrance into the expansive, open-concept living/dining/kitchen area. 13-foot-high ceilings add to the vastness of these rooms and, as with the boathouse, the large windows flood this space with natural light and offer stunning views of the surroundings. Each room in the cottage is tastefully decorated for a modern, refined cottage feel.
Just off the great room is a cozy family room that is the perfect place to watch movies or play board games on a rainy day. Down the hall is the primary bedroom and five-piece ensuite. Imagine soaking in the free-standing tub while taking in the views through the large windows!
At the far end of the living room is a classic Muskoka room with WeatherMaster windows allowing the cottagers three-season use of this modern screened in room. A large deck with glass railings off the Muskoka room offers even more seating and dining options.
The lower-level walkout is just as contemporary and bright as the main level. The generous 9 ½ ft ceilings and walls are clad in crisply painted ship lap. Here there are three bedrooms (each with large windows) two washrooms, a rec room, and – hidden behind double barn doors – a well-appointed gym. Sliding doors from the rec room lead to an exterior stone patio where you can sit around a fire and enjoy the sounds of nature.
This cottage and boathouse are a peaceful oasis and the perfect place to retreat with family and friends.
