Our Past
Normerica was founded in 1979 as Upper Canada Post & Beam by David McFarlane. David had the vision to create a company with a simple philosophy: to marry traditional timber frame craftsmanship with the latest in engineering and building science, delivering nothing less than a customer's ultimate dream home. -
Our Present
Over 40 years later, Normerica leads the industry with efficient building systems and quality craftsmanship. We're proud to see our buildings being enjoyed around the world, from small cabins to large commercial resorts. Thousands of discerning customers have trusted us with their dream home or project, and we're extremely proud that much of our business continues to come through referrals - a result driven by our commitment to building and service excellence. David's son, Chris McFarlane, leads the company today. -
Our Future
As we look to the future, we will continue to set our sights on leading the industry in terms of design, building science, and service. As our customers' needs evolve, so will we. Whether offering more contemporary designs or using the latest in engineered wood products, we want to continue to showcase the beauty, warmth, and versatility of timber frame structures.
“We love our home on Lake Huron and so does everyone who sees it. I have built thousands of units over 30+ years in the housing business and as an “insider”, I was very impressed with the Normerica product and process.”
