This custom lakeside cottage was inspired by the beauty of the elements that surround it. With 3,243 sq.ft. of finished living area over two floors, this cottage delivers a perfect luxury weekend retreat with lots of space for this busy family of seven. The cottage owners wanted to enjoy the lake from all points of their weekend retreat, right down to when they pulled in the driveway. The family cottage is a lovely combination of traditional and modern style. The building itself lends a traditional vibe, while the finishes are clean and modern.
When you walk through the front door, you see right through the great room to the view of the lake beyond. A large combination mudroom/laundry room along with a powder room is conveniently located right off the entry and provides loads of storage for all the family’s needs. This luxury cottage has a classic timber frame great room...
, complete with a soaring cathedral ceiling, a connection to the second-floor loft, a fireplace, and a fabulous window wall. The lower ceiling in the spacious dining room and kitchen gives these rooms their own defined space and sense of coziness while still feeling connected to the great room. A 278 sq.ft. three-season Muskoka room is just off the kitchen/dining room. With a timber frame cathedral ceiling and a wood-burning fireplace, this Muskoka room is a natural evening gather place. A main floor primary suite is tucked away off the living room and enjoys views down to the lake. With a spacious bathroom and a walk-in closet, it’s a wonderful refuge for the cottagers.
The lot wasn’t conducive to a basement but as a busy family with five children, they needed a lot of bedrooms and a separate living space for the kids to hang-out in away from the parents. With four bedrooms, two bathrooms and a recreation room, this second-level is a perfect cottage hang-out area for their children and their friends.
Outdoor dining and lounging areas are located right off the dining room and kitchen, making it easy and convenient to enjoy meals alfresco. A short winding path surrounded by lovely landscaping connects the cottage with the dock and the lake and all it’s various fun activities.
